You Can't Blame Pac-12 Schools For Fleeing to Other Conferences

After USC and UCLA announced they are leaving the Pac-12 for the Big Ten, reports surface that the Big 12 is meeting with Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah about further exodus from the Pac-12. 2 Pros and a Cup of Joe with Jonas Knox, Brady Quinn and LaVar Arrington explain how these moves would make sense financially and geographically.

Brady Quinn: "The Pac-12 has no leverage to negotiate with TV networks... you've lost two of your biggest brands and your biggest media market in USC and UCLA. So yeah, you're gonna have a bunch of schools who want to flee or go to a conference in the Big 12 that was already making $42 million a year or two ago from their TV rights deal. That's about $10 million more than the Pac-12 schools were getting, and that number is only widening. So at this point, that's the hard thing about the Pac-12 and any of the schools that are left in it, is it's going to be hard to generate the type of revenue they need in order to be able to compete with the likes of the top schools in the SEC and Big 10."
