Former Eagles Player Says Team Never Gave Carson Wentz a Chance to Succeed

Colin Cowherd: “What was your initial reaction to Wentz being traded? Shock or saw it coming?”

Jon Ritchie: “We knew he didn’t wanna play in Philly anymore. It is being reported that at the Eagles facility there is a sense of a sullen and somber loss, and everyone as Eagles fans and followers realizes YOU created this. This was essentially Carson saying ‘I’M NOT PLAYING FOR YOU ANYMORE BECAUSE I DON’T HAVE A CHANCE TO SUCCEED’ when you’ve got ‘How-Frey’ running the show – a conglomeration of Howie Roseman and Jeffrey Lurie. No one was surprised about this and the same thing happened for Doug Pederson. They expected to have him back and then he said ‘wait, ya know what, until you start letting me be the coach I can be, I don’t wanna be here any longer.’ They brought it on themselves. I felt sympathy for Carson Wentz with the way he was supported. It was a horrendous offensive scheme, horrendous offensive line, no one to throw to, and I think he did the right thing for his career... You've got Eagles fans saying this season is a loss, let's cut those losses, and move on... Just toss this entire season. Throw the regular season in 2021. Trade away Brandon Graham, trade away Brandon Brooks, trade away Darius Slay and get what you can on these older guys now. You're positioned 31st in the league in terms of cap room, and you're not going to be able to buy help, you can't draft help, and you have to look forward to 2022 at this point... They're the worst team in the division and the division is not good.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to former Eagles fullback Jon Ritchie join The Herd with Colin Cowherd to explain why he thinks the Eagles franchise failed to put Carson Wentz in a position to succeed, and why he thinks Wentz’s career may have effectively been saved by being shipped to Indianapolis.

Check out the video above as Ritchie details why he thinks the Eagles should trade all their assets this season and begin a massive rebuild.
