Eagles Request To Interview Cowboys' OC Kellen Moore

Earlier this morning news came out that the Philadelphia Eagles have requested an interview with Dallas Cowboys' offensive coordinator Kellen Moore. This is Philadelphia's sixth interview request (already meeting with Panthers' OC Joe Brady) since the controversial firing of head coach Doug Pederson on Monday, January 11th. Needless to say, Jeffrey Lurie and Howie Roseman have been active this week.

Kellen Moore was the QB for Boise State from 2008-2012 after being a redshirt freshman in 2007. Moore went undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft and was signed afterward by the Detroit Lions where he spent 2012-2014 as a backup to Matthew Stafford. Moore then spent 2015-2017 as a backup for Dallas before calling it a career.

The year following his retirement, Kellen Moore was hired by the Cowboys as the QB coach in 2018, where he worked his way up to the offensive coordinator position following the firing of then HC Jason Garrett. Now interestingly enough Moore recently signed a 3-year contract to remain the Dallas OC earlier this month, while also receiving interest as the HC for his alma mater.

With all of this being said, no, Moore is not a Dallas Cowboy faithful by any means so diehard Eagles fans should not sour on the idea of bringing a division rival coach in for a chance to lead the Birds for that reason alone, but at the same time does the move to bring in a division rival coach more benefit or hurt the Eagles from a strict coaching aspect?

If the Boise State alumni were to fulfill the vacant head coaching job for Philly, the Eagles would have someone that knows the Dallas organization, players, and scheme. It is up to Moore to adjust and even change his scheme to fit a completely different roster which would eliminate the idea of Dallas strategizing off of Moore's own tendencies. If Moore has the skill to adjust and improve with a new roster, I do not see an issue with bringing in a coach from the same division.

Do you think bringing in someone from a team you play twice a year is more beneficial or hurtful moving forward for the Philadelphia Eagles franchise? Make sure to voice your opinions with us @foxphlgambler on Twitter!
