Philadelphia Union had its home opener at Subaru Park on March 1, 2026, which ended with a 2-1 loss to rivals New York City FC.
The Eastern Conference rivals had another very close game, with New York City FC's Hannes Wolf scoring on the rebound after Union goalkeeper Andre Blake denied Nicolás Fernández in the 36th minute.
The Union came back and equalized in the 89th minute with a goal from Indiana Vassilev to tie up the match at 1-1, until New York's Tayvon Gray scored the game-winning goal during the match's 10 minutes of stoppage time.
