Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers ripped critics wanting to know more details about his secret marriage during an appearance on the Pat McAfee Show Tuesday (June 24).
Rodgers, 41, claimed that the entitlement of information regarding his personal life was "f**king ridiculous" as his mysterious new wife remains private.
“My private life is my private life and it’s going to stay that way, and I’m with somebody who wants to be private, and if and when she wants to be out and there’s a picture, she’ll choose that,” Rodgers said. “But the entitlement to information about my private life is so f–king ridiculous and embarrassing.”
Rodgers previously confirmed that he recently got married while addressing reporters for the first time since signing with the team last week during the first day of mandatory minicamp earlier this month. The four-time NFL MVP was seen wearing a black ring on his left hand while signing his one-year, $13.65 million contract, which includes $10 million guaranteed, on June 7.
“Yeah, it’s a wedding ring,” Rodgers said via the New York Post, “Been a couple of months.”
Earlier this month, Rodgers' estranged family was reported to be questioning the validity of his marriage, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to the Daily Mail.
“The family is unconvinced the marriage is real,” the sources said, claiming it's possible that Rodgers, 41, “may have had a symbolic ‘commitment ceremony’ instead of a legally binding wedding.” The reported speculation came days after the Daily Mail Rodgers' estranged brother, former Vanderbilt quarterback and media personality Jordan Rodgers and his wife, JoJo Fletcher reportedly didn't attend the wedding.
“They are still angry that Aaron didn’t go to their wedding [in May 2022]," the source said. "He didn’t want to be with his brother on the biggest day of his life, so why should they twist themselves up over this wedding?”
Aaron Rodgers had previously revealed that he was dating a woman named "Brittani" during his weekly appearance on the Pat McAfee Show in December.
“There was one package left for my girlfriend Brittani that hadn’t showed up yet,” Rodgers said. “I was waiting on this to show up, it showed up today.”
McAfee's co-host and Rodgers' longtime former Green Bay Packers teammate A.J. Hawk then joking asked, "Spears?" as if the quarterback was referring to pop superstar Britney Spears.
“Not Britney Spears, this is Brittani with an ‘I,'” Rodgers replied. “But Britney Spears and I do share a birthday.”
Rodgers said his girlfriend doesn't watch the Pat McAfee Show but is a fan of the former punter turned media personality, who said he was excited to hear that his guest was "in love."
“It’s a good feeling, boys,” Rodgers said at the time.
Rodgers was previously rumored to be in a relationship with Mallory Edens, the 28-year-old daughter of Milwaukee Bucks owner Wes Edens. The quarterback was previously engaged to actress Shailene Woodley, who later claimed they were in a "toxic" relationship, which ended in April 2022.
Rodgers also previously dated former race car driver Danica Patrick, who recently described their past relationship as "emotionally abusive," claiming it wore her "down to nothing" during an appearance on the Sage Steele Show last month and actress Olivia Munn, who is now married to comedian John Mulaney.
