UCL Picks: Take Tottenham To Win, Secure Group D Crown

The final two days of the UEFA Champions League group stage come with a good dose of drama around qualification to the knockout round.

Tuesday's eight-game slate features the conclusion of Groups A, B, C and D. Most of the focus will be on Group D, where all four of the teams could win the group, advance as runner-up, or drop down to the UEFA Europa League in third place.

Tottenham thought it had passage to the knockout round last week until a last-minute goal was called off for offside. Spurs are on the road against Marseille on Tuesday, but they can still pull off a result to move on to the final 16.

The top two in Groups A, B and C are confirmed, but the order of advancement is not official in all of those groups. The best angle from those groups on Tuesday could be to bet on the clubs dropping to the Europa League looking to make one final statement on Europe's top stage.

Tuesday UCL Picks

Overall Record: 38-40 (13-12 UCL)

Marseille vs. Tottenham (+135) (4 p.m. ET)

Spurs were so, so close to confirming their spot in the round of 16 last week, but now they have to earn that on the final matchday while fending off a desperate Marseille side.

Harry Kane and Co. need a win or draw to land in the round of 16 and a win secures first place in Group D.

Spurs have the best expected goals differential in Group D at +4.2 and they have conceded the fewest goals in the group with five.

The only loss suffered by the North London side in Group D came at the hands of Sporting on two late goals in Portugal on Matchday 2.

Marseille has been in wretched form with two wins in its last seven games, both of which came against Sporting amid some bizarre self-inflicted mistakes by the Portuguese side.

Spurs have been the better side in the competition and their quality up top, led by Kane, should be enough to avoid a result that keeps them out of the knockout round.

Rangers vs. Ajax (-110) (4 p.m. ET)

Ajax can't lose by five goals to Rangers.

As long as the Dutch side avoids that, it will slide down into the Europa League.

Ajax should leave the Champions League this season with a victory against a Rangers side that just has not been up to the quality of the competition.

Rangers have a -18 goal differential, they conceded 19 goals and their xGA is 12.2, all of which are second-worst of the 32 teams in the group stage.

Rangers are not worth trusting, even if they have nothing to lose. Ajax should get through the match with a 1-0, 2-0-type win.

Viktoria Plzen vs. Barcelona (-1.5; -115) (4 p.m. ET)

Barcelona needs to show some pride on Tuesday night away from home against Viktoria Plzen.

The Spanish giant is headed to the Europa League, but it needs to show some pride in the Champions League before it drops down to the second-tier competition.

Viktoria Plzen is the worst defensive side in the competition and it lost 5-1 to Barcelona back on Matchday 1.

Show some pride here Barca and overwhelm the Czech side with your class and drop out of the UCL with some pride please.
