UCL Picks: Take Pair of Spanish Sides, Haaland To Score in Tuesday's Games

Motivation is easy to come by in the penultimate matchday of the UEFA Champions League.

Five teams have already qualified for the round of 16, but none of them have clinched first place in their respective groups. Manchester City and Real Madrid can do that with results on Tuesday.

Man City may have some extra motivation within its squad since Erling Haaland is returning to Germany to face Borussia Dortmund.

The bottom halves of the group tables also need to be sorted out. If you can't make it to the UCL round of 16, then at least finish third to drop down to the UEFA Europa League knockout round.

That is where Sevilla comes into the Tuesday discussion. The Spanish side must win on Tuesday to keep their European hopes alive.

Tuesday UCL Picks

Overall Soccer Record: 37-37

Sevilla (-195) vs. FC Copenhagen (12:45 p.m. ET)

It's gut-check time for Sevilla.

The La Liga side has had a nightmarish season, but it can't afford to be completely out of European play before the World Cup.

Sevilla needs to beat FC Copenhagen at home just to ensure it can drop down into the UEFA Europa League as a third-place team in the UCL group stage.

Sevilla still has an outside shot of finishing second, but for that to happen, it needs Manchester City to beat Borussia Dortmund later in the day.

Copenhagen has not scored in the UCL group stage and it has the second-worst expected goal differential (xGD) of the 32 teams in the competition.

Borussia Dortmund vs. Manchester City (3 p.m. ET)

Erling Haaland To Score (-155)

Jude Bellingham To Score (+650)

I'm betting Erling Haaland to score at any price under -200 with the form that he is in.

Haaland is coming off a two-goal performance over the weekend against Brighton and he carries an extra bit of motivation to to score on the road against his former club.

Haaland has five goals in the three UCL games he started for Manchester City and he needs to score on Tuesday so that City can lock up first place in Group G.

Jude Bellingham has been a scoring machine for Dortmund in the UCL. He scored in each of his four UCL appearances this season and he has five goals over his last six matches in all competitions.

Bellingham's price is higher than it has been in previous UCL group-stage games and it is worth sprinkling on because of his success in the competition.

RB Leipzig vs. Real Madrid (+195) (3 p.m. ET)

I'm blindly betting Real Madrid in this spot.

Real Madrid has been the class of Group F and it can lock up first place with a win or draw in Germany on Tuesday.

Los Blancos have not lost in any competition so far this season and they have just two draws. RB Leipzig played better of late, but it is coming off a disappointing 3-3 result against Augsburg over the weekend.

Real Madrid is the more trustworthy side and it will play with the extra motivation of securing the group crown before reaching the final matchday.
