CBB Picks: Take Arkansas, Miami as favorites on Tuesday night's card

Two of my favorite teams to bet on during the college basketball season are in play on Tuesday night.

Arkansas and Miami come into Tuesday off different types of results, but they are both in great positions to win and cover.

Arkansas is surging toward being one of the most popular dark horse picks to make the Final Four. The Razorbacks have been in great form over the last month and they should continue that run against Florida.

Miami needs to bounce back from a loss to Virginia, and it is in the perfect spot to do so, against one of the worst teams in the ACC.

The Hogs and Canes, plus a handful of MAC plays, headline tonight's card.

Tuesday CBB Picks

Arkansas (-1) at Florida (7 p.m. ET, ESPN2)

There are all sorts of factors involved here in my picking of Arkansas.

Arkansas has won nine of its last 10 games and it has gained traction as one of the teams to watch come March. Personally, I'm high on the Hogs and I think they will do some damage.

The Razorbacks will win games in March because of their defense. They rank 12th in defensive efficiency on KenPom and they allowed under 60 points in three of their last four wins.

Oh by the way, Arkansas is 9-1 against the spread in the last 10 games.

Additionally, Florida is in a massive let down spot after upsetting Auburn at home on Saturday.

Toledo (-13.5) at Western Michigan (7 p.m. ET, ESPN+)

Toledo beat Western Michigan by 27 points in their first meeting this season.

Western Michigan ranks 330th or below in four key defensive metrics, including two-point defense.

The Broncos' defense simply is not good and Toledo should use this game to get a few average performances out of its system.

Ball State at Kent State (-8.5) (7 p.m. ET, ESPN+)

Kent State is one of the hottest mid-major squads you may not know about.

The Golden Flashes beat Toledo and Ohio in back-to-back games to make a statement at the top of the MAC.

Kent State is also 9-1 ATS in its last 10 games and it faces a Ball State squad that ranks 298th in three-point defense and 300th in adjusted defensive efficiency.

Kent State gives up 14 fewer points per game than the Cardinals, so there's your difference-maker on the spread.

Bowling Green at Akron (Over 148.5) (7 p.m. ET, ESPN+)

Bowling Green's defense has been staggeringly bad recently.

The Falcons gave up over 90 points to their last three opponents. The last two of those contests had totals in the 160s and cashed.

Bowling Green gave up 91 points to Akron in their first meeting and a similar fate could meet the Falcons on Tuesday.

Akron plays at one of the slowest paces in Division 1, but that may not matter against one of the worst defenses.

Miami (-4.5) at Pittsburgh (8 p.m. ET, ACC Network)

I can't quit betting on Miami.

I have a very good reason to bet on the Hurricanes tonight.

Pittsburgh is quite bad and it averages 12 fewer points per game than the Hurricanes.

Pitt played better over the last two weeks, but that came to a crashing halt with a home loss to Georgia Tech on Saturday.

The Canes are in a bounce-back spot of their own after losing to Virginia and they are still fighting for the byes for the ACC tournament.
