Daniel Gazdag eligible to make Philadelphia Union debut on Sunday

The Philadelphia Union's newest signing could make his Major League Soccer debut on Sunday against D.C. United.

Sunday's match at Audi Field kicks off at 7;15 p.m. ET. The Union Pregame Show presented by DraftKings begins at 6:30 p.m. ET with Jon Jansen and Joe Tansey. The game call with J.P. Dellacamera and Danny Higginbotham starts at 7. After the match, Jansen, Tansey and Kevin Kinkead will break down the match on the Postgame Show.

Gazdag arrived at Union training on Saturday after his visa was approved. When the Union introduced Gazdag last week, manager Jim Curtin was hopeful that the Hungarian international would make his MLS debut before the European Championships.

Gazdag is only a few weeks removed from helping Hungarian side Honved avoid relegation. He played 30 games in the campaign that ended on May 8.

The 25-year-old will not be around for long. He is expected to be part of Hungary's squad for the Euros and the report date for the team's pre-tournament camp is May 24.

Given the heavy workload in Hungary and short rest, Gazdag likely will not play 90 minutes on Sunday, but it does help the Union that he is eligible for some type of role.

In six MLS games, the Union struck the back of the net on five occasions. They converted on one of their five shots on goal last Saturday against the New York Red Bulls and were a bit selfless during buildups into the final third.

D.C. United comes into Sunday with a -5 goal differential with 10 goals conceded and five scored. That record suggests the Union could finish multiple chances, like they did in their last road game against the Chicago Fire.

Philadelphia has had success against D.C.'s defense in the last few years. It scored multiple goals in each of the last six meetings between the two sides. The Union outscored D.C. United 6-3 in two matchups last season.

The win and draw from last season extended the Union's eight-game unbeaten streak in league play against D.C. United. During that span, the Union outscored the capital city squad 24-7.

You can find some good betting value on those trends at DraftKings Sportsbook. The Union are +148 on the money line and Over 2.5 goals carries a price of -106.

With Gazdag expected to make an appearance at some point, the Union's attack could be poised to break out for its best performance of the season.
