Union host New England, Andre Blake set for 150th start

The Philadelphia Union link up with a familiar foe on Wednesday night.

Philadelphia will take on the New England Revolution at Subaru Park to start a run of three home games in the next four. The Union Pregame Show presented by DraftKings Sportsbook begins at 7 p.m. ET with Sean Brace and Joe Tansey. J.P. Dellacamera and Danny Higginbotham will have the game call at 7:30 p.m. ET. Brace, Tansey and Kevin Kinkead will have the postgame show from 9:30 p.m. ET-10 p.m. ET on The Gambler.

The Union and Revs met up on five occasions in 2020. New England won the last meeting in the Eastern Conference playoff quarterfinals. The victor in four of those games scored two goals. Only the August 20 meeting at Gillette Stadium failed to produce a goal.

New England enters Subaru Park tied with New York City FC on top of the Eastern Conference with seven points. The Revs lost their last matchup against Nashville SC on Saturday. They have wins over D.C. United and Atlanta United and split points with the Chicago Fire in Week 1.

Carles Gil is New England's most dangerous playmaker. He leads Major League Soccer with 15 key passes. The Spaniard had two assists in the playoff victory last November.

The Union's defense, which held Chicago scoreless on Saturday, allowed three goals to New England in three home matches in 2020. They are currently tied for the fourth-fewest goals allowed in the Eastern Conference. Only the Columbus Crew, Orlando City and NYCFC have allowed fewer tallies to start the season.

Defender Jack Elliott could be a long shot to score a goal on Wednesday. He scored three of his six career goals against the Revs. Anthony Fontana is the club's active leading scorer against New England with four tallies.

Goalkeeper Andre Blake will hit another milestone in a Union shirt. Blake is in line to make his 150th league appearance for the Union. Blake will join Ray Gaddis, Brian Carroll and Sebastien Le Toux as Union players to make 150 league appearances for the club. Gaddis and Carroll are the only two with 150 starts.
